Every so often I wade through the contents of the 'Sent mail' and 'Sent news' folders deleting the copies of posts I know have been distributed ok, or are trivial, andmanually moving the others to the relevant folder/group where they will appear in the threads along with incoming msgs/posts. Then I delete the duplicates in those target folders.
Today I defined a couple of OpenGroup filters acting on the 'Sent mail' folder. I was pleased to see that I could have the filter identify some outgoing copies of mails and move them to the folder where subsequent replies would go.
Then I tried to define an OpenGroup 'Sent news' filter. Although I can test that a particular outgoing post has 'Newsgroups' equal to a particular value (I don't want filters to work on cross-posted outgoing posts so didn't choose 'contains'), I was unable to tell MP to move such a log copy post to an (incoming) newsgroup folder, simply because the 'move to' target drop-down list didn't list any of the newsgroups. I can see why, I suppose; normally only debatching places posts in them. But I can and do manually move the log copies every so often. Being able to have it done by a filter would be great.
